The Bull Thesis

High Profile Partnerships

Beyond Meat partners with some of the biggest names across all areas of the food industry throughout the U.S. and Canada.

  1. KFC - In August 2019, KFC began testing plant based fried "chicken." If the test goes well it could be added to menus nationally.

  2. Subway - In September 2019, Subway began serving the Beyond Meatball Marinara Sub which is available at 685 locations throughout the U.S. and Canada.

  3. Dunkin Donuts - In July 2019, Dunkin Donuts began offering the Beyond Sausage breakfast.

  4. Blue Apron - In Summer 2019, Blue Apron (a meal kit service) began including Beyond Meat products in its ingredients.

  5. Famous Dave's - In August 2019, Famous Dave's began testing Beyond Meat's products in its menu.

  8. A&W - After its success with the A&W Beyond Meat Burger, A&W expanded its partnership with Beyond Meat to include the Sausage & Egger at all locations across Canada.

  10. Carl's Jr. - Offers a Beyond Meat burger on its menu. Also gave away free meatless burgers to celebrate Beyond Meat's 10th birthday and its listing on the public market.

  11. McDonald's? - McDonald's is said to begin testing a Beyond Meat product at its locations the item will be called the "McPlant." The McPlant could also include Beyond Meat chicken substitutes.

  12. Bareburger - Offers a variety of Beyond Meat products in its lineup.

  13. Blaze Pizza - Offers a Beyond Meat spicy chorizo topping option.

  14. Burger Fi - Allows a substitution for Beyond Meat patties in any of their burgers.

  15. Taco Bell - Taco Bell announced it's partnering with BYND to explore plant based protein menu options. The innovative plant-based protein product will be tested next year.

Branding - The long list of high profile partnerships above provides Beyond Meat with unparalleled branding as a vegan option. People know Beyond Meat really well through the partnerships above and will be more likely to choose beyond meat products at their grocery store.

Vegetarian Diets are Growing - I have noticed the vegan trend growing ever since I was in college way back in 2009. However, in recent years the vegan trend has really been taking off. This is a trend that isn't going anywhere. Many people who choose to switch to a vegetarian diet never switch back because it is better for your health and the planet!

Good (or at least usually better) for Your Health - Although KFC's Beyond Fried Chicken might not be the healthiest option it could be the healthiest option on the menu.

Beyond Meat products tend to be fairly healthy according to several nutritionists. The burgers are a good source of fiber and protein. They are a little high in saturated fat because they use coconut oil as a coagulant but overall they are healthy.

Good for the Planet - the Beyond Burger generates 90% less greenhouse gas emissions and requires 46% less energy, 99% less water and 93% less land compared to a quarter pound of U.S. beef.

The Bear Thesis

Competition - Beyond Meat's competes against Impossible Foods which is another plant based foods company. Currently, Beyond Meat is ahead in the race but who knows anything could change. Impossible Foods is not a publicly traded company. There are also several other plant food companies including "The Very Good Food Company" and "The Tattood Chef."

Beyond Meat is also touted as a healthier option to impossible foods as the plant base for its protein is more easily digestible.

More Expensive - Currently, Beyond Meat products are more expensive than traditional meat, but that could change as more plant based options are offered.

Chemicals? - I am hesitant to even put this on here but it is something that I have heard before. An article called "Fake Meat Real Chemicals" was printed by a lobbyist group. Beyond Meat's products doesn't use any harmful chemicals in its ingredients. Although Beyond Meat's products are heavily processed no harmful or unnatural chemicals are added to them.
